🎮 Deathloop🎮
“What is Deathloop?”

“In Deathloop, the player takes on the role of Colt, an assassin stuck in a time loop who has been tasked to take out eight targets called Visionaries across the island before midnight, as leaving even one alive will cause the time loop to reset and undo his work. Further, should Colt die before taking out the eight targets, he will wake back up at the start of the loop. Unlike The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, another game with a time loop that runs in real time, the time loop in Deathloop is not strictly timed and is aimed to give players more time and freedom to take out these eight targets in one loop. The player uses a combination of stealth, parkour, attack skills, gadgets and powers as in Arkane’s previous Dishonored and Prey games to move about the game world, avoid or take out guards, and learn the patterns of Colt’s targets to figure out the right order to eliminate these using guns, melee attacks, or other environmental means.

The game features a multiplayer aspect in which the player can alternatively take the role of Julianna, an agent tasked to protect the time loop and take out Colt. When the player takes this role, they will enter a random player’s game and may interfere with their play. The multiplayer portion is optional and players can prevent others from taking on the role of Julianna in their game, instead leaving this to a computer-controlled opponent to try to stop Colt.”

  1. I think the ending isn't as fulfilling as they had hoped with so much playing and replaying to try and figure everything out there's not much replayability to this and for the ending to just be okay we know everything now 5 minutes to just murder everyone it seems very anti-climactic and now that it seems like they could have done more with the weapons and with Juliana interfering but it just seemed all like you were just going through the the motions after a while

  2. Man the sheer amount of fucking personality this game has is like, unparalleled. Every single little thing has this little blurb to it and makes it unique. Which, for a game about repeating the same day over and over, is pretty god damn impressive. You can feel the personality in each and every single character, they all have little quirks and things to them that let those fantastic traits shine through. That's probably the best part about this game for me, though that's not to say everything wasn't really cool either. All in all, I'd agree with GaLm's 9/10, there are a few things that hold it back, but for me, the personality brings it back up.

  3. Alternatively, I would also be very excited to see you play the DLCs for Metro Exodus and Outer Worlds. Both have interesting story pieces, and you seemed to enjoy playing both games back in the day.

  4. Great series, GaLm! I would love to see your LP of Outer Wilds and Forgotten City, two other games featuring Groundhog Day shenanigans.

  5. great game, I wish that it answered a few more questions, but it made a great time loop game.

  6. I'm unsure how to feel about this ending. Was that like….Blackreef returned to the current outside time so everything beyond is dead? I'm so confused about the ending.

  7. Well that ending was pretty lame. Would've been better if he had just died and not respawned. It would've at least been about the peaceful end that Death brings to break out of a nightmare loop.

  8. I'm just confused to be honest. I don't understand the ending at all, nothing is explained. Maybe if I were to play the game myself and not have watched hours and hours of gameplay spread over a week or whatever it's been then maybe it would've made more sense. I don't know. Kinda disappointing to be honest.

  9. Eh, feels like a step back after the Dishonored games and Prey. Maybe the devs could not decide between making a single player game and a multiplayer game, so we end up with this mediocre hybrid. 😑

  10. I liked a lot of the concepts, people, and side stories in this game, but I feel like Deathloop has a problem with bringing things up and not tying them together. I have so many questions and the game just sort of… ends. I get her hating Colt because Colt kept killing her trying to set her free, but it doesn't explain why Colt thought that. Why did he leave? What else is there with all of Wenji's science experiments? What happened to Colt's girlfriend? What's up with all the alternate Colts/Juliannas? I just feel so let down with this ending.

  11. Man that ending is SO FRUSTRATING because I've loved this series and think the story so far has been really cool and filling in small blanks as you go is cool too. I was under the impression that everything would have been explained in the end but NOPE. Nothing. Sigh…time to go read a wiki I guess. Great series though galm!
